Webb secures $250k in funding for Binghamton FD truck purchase – Journal Important Online

BINGHAMTON, NY (WHCU) – The Binghamton Fire Department is getting a new truck.

State Senator Lea Webb visited the Engine 1 Station on Conklin Avenue on Friday to announce $250,000 in state funds to purchase a new service vehicle. The money will help replace an aging truck.

“I am thrilled to have secured this significant funding for a new fire truck that will equip our brave firefighters with the tools they need to continue their exemplary service,” said Webb. “This new fire truck will enhance the department’s operational capabilities and allow them to respond to emergencies with greater efficiency and effectiveness.”

The price tag of the new truck is over half a million dollars. The City of Binghamton is covering the remaining cost.

“This new fire truck will serve the South Side from Engine 1 on Conklin Avenue, replacing a 20-year-old rig at the end of its useful life,” said Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham. “It’s another major investment to make sure our first responders have what they need to perform their jobs safely and continue protecting our community.”
