The Vance County manager tells WRAL News the FBI is investigating the financial dealings of its former finance director.  

Katherine Bigelow was terminated in February after five years as finance director after the county manager said she misrepresented her qualifications as a CPA.

A financial audit found that Bigelow wired more than $1 million of county funds to a company she was affiliated with.

The county found other money troubles as well.

The county manager said Bigelow has since passed away.

Her cause of death is not clear.
