A 15-year-old boy has been charged with capital murder in the shooting death of a 12-year-old girl in Montgomery.

Police say the boy was taken into custody yesterday and put in the Montgomery County Youth Detention Facility on three counts of capital murder.

Maj. Saba Coleman told Action 8 News that the reason for the multiple charges stem from the shooting happening from a vehicle into a residence and because the child was less than 14.

As Action 8 News has reported, the girl died on June 7 at a Birmingham hospital. She had been shot around 2:29AM on Friday, May 31, in the 4100 block of Keating Drive.  That is just off Lower Wetumpka Road near the Montgomery Zoo.

Police have released no other information.
